Sunday is Palm Sunday!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Charlie Hall

Charlie Hall began this journey of songwriting in 1992, becoming part of the Passion movement in 1997, and has been an integral voice alongside them since.  Though originally from Oklahoma City, Charlie has moved all over the world as a worship leader - serving across the US and the globe.  The band still primarily operates out of OKC.

The Rising: The new worship album was a challenge Charlie took to write music as if they were Psalms.  It's about "movement towards God."  Louie Giglio (Passion founder & pastor) says, "Charlie Hall's passion to make the journey of worship and the healing found in Christ accessible to people inside and outside the walls of the Church is beautifully displayed on The Rising. This new collection of songs is not only musically alive and fresh, it oozes from its core the timeless message of the one who raises and restores our lives."

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Kari Jobe

Kari Jobe knew at 10 that she would be a worship leader. Raised in a Christian home with a father who was a traveling minister, Kari began singing in church when she was 3. Through high school and college, Kari watched God set the path before her as she began leading worship in various places. She spent time studying at Oral Roberts University, Christ For The Nations and Dallas Baptist University, where she finished her psychology and Pastoral Ministries degree.

For the past seven years Kari has been a worship pastor at her home church in Southlake, TX. She has been a featured singer on Gateway Worship projects and in 2009 released her self-titled debut album. More recently, Kari released a new worship project entitled Where I Find You.

About We Are:We Are is a song of commission for us as believers,” says Kari, “to be reminded of what we’ve been called to; and that is to impact people’s lives in everything we do.”

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Jeremy Horn

On his 15th birthday, Jeremy Horn's older brother gave him a guitar.  And that was the beginning of his life's calling. Over the next month's using an old "learn guitar" book he found in the attic, Jeremy taught himself how to play.  Horn’s zeal to serve God with his musical gifts has resulted in a flourishing role as worship leader at Christ the Rock Church in Memphis, Tennessee.

Horn was born and raised in Memphis, a town where the music is as much a part of life as great barbque (afterall, Memphis is where Elvis called home)!   He grew up listening to Big Tent Revival, Skillet and his parent's old DeGarmo & Key cassettes. As a teenager, he got a job as a temp (answering phones and making coffee) at Arden Records (a great Christian record label).

Today, Horn is a married father of two young boys, and he’s still part of the Ardent family - though now as a recording artist. He knows his way around a guitar and a recording studio after years of helping other musicians.  And with Sound of the Broken he offers an album of worship meant to remind us that the Spirit of God rests inside of broken people, and that God wants to use us to tell His story of redemption.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Rebecca St. James

Rebecca St. James has received countless industry awards, including the prestigious GRAMMY, garnered number one singles and has consistently topped both radio and sales charts, with career album sales in the millions of album units. She has also authored nine books!  As an artist spokesperson for Compassion International, she has, through her concerts, globally helped find sponsorship for more than 30,000 of the world’s neediest children.

A move to Los Angeles in 2008 to pursue her interest in acting led many to wonder what Rebecca’s creative future might hold. Most notably, it produced her first leading role in film in the form of Sarah’s Choice, a movie with a strong pro-life message released by Pure Flix Entertainment and a creative ‘stretch’ that led to Rebecca’s emergence over the past two years as an outspoken national voice for the work of crisis pregnancy.

Her next film project is a movie called The Frontier Boys.

This past year Rebecca got married and released a highly anticipated worship album called I Will Praise You.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Jaime Jamgochian

Originally from Boston, MA - Jaime relocated to Seattle, WA after college and spent years serving at The City Church.  More recently she moved to Nashville to focus on her music career.

Jaime’s music and bubbly personality have touched thousands of young women as she’s appeared on Point of Grace’s Girls of Grace conferences. In addition, Jaime has stepped forward and launched her own “Modest is Hottest” conferences for young girls. Last summer, she also went to Peru with 800 girls on a mission trip sponsored by Brio magazine.

Since Jaime has signed with Centricity Records, she’s toured relentlessly over the past few years and loves having an opportunity to reach people, especially young girls. Having come to Christ during her college years, Jaime admits she made her share of mistakes before becoming a believer, and those moments have made her better equipped to minister to young girls struggling through some of the same issues.

In Studio: Jaime's latest album was produced by Nathan Nockels (of Watermark).  When struggling for authenticity during the awkward recording of the vocals for the album, Nathan challenged Jaime to forget anyone else is around and spend time worshiping God.  That advice is what led to the emotional, powerful and undoubtedly worshipful nature of the new album.

Fact: Jaime grew up with a severe learning disability.  She credits her struggles in learning to her earnestness in encouraging young women to give everything to their Savior.

Music: Jaime is featured on the Centricity Easter EP along with Aaron Shust, Andrew Peterson, Sixteen Cities, Downhere and Jason Gray.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Jason Allen Rich

Rich grew up in the heartland of the US in the small town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He began his musical career as a worship leader and singer, and has since grown into a seasoned musician and writer as well.

He and his wife Bailey Rae now call Atlanta home, have two dogs, Gracie Rae and Beau Peep. Bailey runs "The Recycled Shop," an online store featuring her artistic takes on repurposed items.

He got his big break as a contestant on American Idol - which has sort of become a launchpad for great Christian music (like Mandisa, Chris Sligh and many others!).

Life on the road can be overwhelming.  Here's what J.A.R. has learned in recent years:
“All of the musical growth is great, and I have worked hard at that, but most importantly I want to grow as a follower of Christ. It is essential for God to be our focus, and if I am able to use my gifts to influence others to recognize that, then I believe this is my life’s calling!"

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Know Hope Collective

Mark Stuart and Will McGinniss of Audio Adrenaline lived a rock 'n roll dream.  They toured for nearly two decades around the world, won 2 GRAMMY's and tons of Dove Awards.  But when all was said and done, Mark required surgery and nearly lost his voice.  The guys' marriages were strained to the point of breaking and they had lost their first love - worshiping the Lord.

After a few years hiatus from the music industry - years filled with counselling and community, Stuart and McGinniss founded the Know Hope Collective. Know Hope is a community of song writers that work to dig deeper into the question "What is worship?"

The Know Hope Collective is a ground-breaking initiative that combines worship music with stories of hope and inspiration. The Collective will be an ever-changing group of musicians from a variety of backgrounds who come together to create worship music and share their unique experiences and testimonies.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Charles Billingsley

When he was 22 years old, the day after his college graduation Charles Billingsley packed up his red two-door Ford Explorer, attached a little trailer behind it and headed to a church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to perform his first professional concert. Almost twenty years later, after 24 records, 17 years of marriage, two children, and 3,000 concerts, Billingsley has just released his 25th album, Never Forsaken.

CB on Never Forsaken: “It’s a plea to the church,” Billingsley explains. “Look beyond the four walls of our buildings and get out there and love the world. It’s just a reminder to us all–God actually loves them as much as he loves me.”

Missions: Billingsley, with his with his wife Shae and their two boys, recently took an eye-opening trip to Guatemala along with the humanitarian organization Causelife. During their visit, as they journeyed through numerous villages in dire need of fresh water, Billingsley’s inspiration deepened to help build wells across third world countries.

Teaching:  On top of writing music, producing, recording, touring and leading worship at his church in Lynchburg, VA - CB also teaches in the worship department at Liberty University.

Familiar: Charles was at one time the lead singer for NewSong.

A new week with Spring in the air...
This is going to be a great week!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Caedmon's Call

Caedmon's Call has been producing eclectic, acoustic driven music for two decades. Cliff Young fronts this family of songwriters that includes Derek Webb, Danielle Young (Cliff's wife), Andy Osenga, Todd Bragg, Garett Buell, Jeff Miller and Josh Moore. Ask any Christian performer who they think is authentic in a world of pop culture glitz and they'll tell you, without skipping a beat, Caedmon's Call.

When Christian music exploded in the 90s - playing sold out arenas and massive mega-churches, Caedmon's Call continued (in spite of their great success) to play coffee shops and bars. They always wanted to be where they felt Jesus would be. Caedmon’s Call has sold over a million units of its 15 records to date but has always been more of a community itself than a band.

Caedmon’s also helped launch or boosted the careers of artists like Bebo Norman, Jill Phillips, Waterdeep, and Andrew Peterson. The band is also a longtime promoter of missional living, through their longtime partnership with Compassion International, and more recently with the Dalit Freedom Network, an organization fighting caste discrimination in India, and the band’s own Share The Well Foundation.

Birth:
The band formed around an acoustic guitar in Cliff Young's dorm room while they were all still in college. Although Cliff & Danielle had been song writing together while dating in high school.

Fashion: Danielle Young often wears overalls in concert - and the rest of the band now refers to all overalls as Danielles.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Jeff Chandler

For Jeff Chandler, music is a legacy. From early childhood his parents exposed him to a wide variety of musical influences ranging from Bill Gaither to the Beatles. He came up in the shadow of his father, Scott Chandler, a drummer who played at church and in a touring band.

His musical debut, as humble as it was, came at 16 years old when one of his pastors cast him for the lead shepherd-boy role in the annual Christmas play. He still points to that experience as the defining moment that music became his life.

Over the last decade, he has played venues ranging from coffee shops to coliseums and has had the honor of sharing the stage with Michael English, Rascal Flatts, David Crowder, Steve Fee, Leeland and Grammy award winning artist, Casting Crowns.

Country, gospel, and epic rock'n'roll flavors bring a unique taste to those who sample his work. His songs are primarily born out of relationships: his family, friends and those he serves as a spiritual leader.

"I feel like the purpose for my music is to bring healing and direction to broken hearts. I honestly feel that's what my life is about." - Jeff Chandler

Fact: Casting Crowns recorded Chandler's song I Know You're There on their acclaimed The Altar and the Door album.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Aaron Keyes

Aaron Keyes and his band travel internationally, leading worship and coaching worship leaders as the Lord gives opportunity. Most frequently Aaron works with Kingsway Music, from the United Kingdom. He and his wife of 11 years, Megan, have four sons – Cooper, Judah, Nyle, and Linen. Aaron and Megan graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC, where they were a part of planting CrossRoads Community Church (in Simpsonville, SC) with Aaron’s parents, Steve and Becky.

But it's not all international touring and recording for Aaron Keyes. Aaron has served as the worship pastor at Grace Fellowship Church (outside Atlanta, GA) for the past eight years. Several months out of the year, he has younger worship pastors living in his home as part of an intensive worship discipleship course, involving daily teaching, mentoring, coaching, and community. Plus Aaron helps teach the next generation the skills for worship leading through Catalyst Worship school!

Between church life, traveling, song-writing, discipleship and parenting, Aaron and Megan are loving their lives and excited about their next season of life, love and discipleship.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
DecembeRadio

In 2006, DecembeRadio's debut album was nominated for a GRAMMY and earned the group four Dove Award nominations, including nods in the Best New Artist category and Song of the Year for "Drifter." That night the band claimed their first Dove Award when DecembeRadio was honored for Rock Album of the Year!

DecembeRadio puts a lot of time and effort into their live performances.  They toured relentlessly the past several years, including opening for Third Day on a recent spring tour. The band has an intriguing dynamic on stage. Though they definitely have that powerful rock 'n roll stage presence, they also have a unique ability to be accessible to the fans. There's a bond that's forged between the guys and the crowd that erases that unseen barrier between artist and audience.

Every time the band enters the studio to write, they are always overwhelmed with a sense of gratefulness.  They truly love what they do - and know how fortunate they are to get to do it.

When asked about the future - the band responds "..we're just enjoying the journey."

Kids: Between the four members' families, the band now has three daughters.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Shawn McDonald

Originally from Oregon, now Seattle-based - Shawn McDonald crafts lazy melodies with rich lyrical depth. Shawn's journey through the musical landscape has taught him to appraciate and delight in the truly good things of life and to embrace each season as it unfolds. He yearns to find contentment and accept every step God leads him on.

The Transformation: Shawn was a drug addict/dealer in trouble with the law at age 20.  It was then, near suicide that Shawn came to know Jesus Christ.  He is a life completely transformed by Grace.

Showcasing his love of all things artistic, Shawn invited artist Scott Erikson to paint an original work each night of the tour - on stage during the concert. At the end of each show, they auctioned off the art to benefit the Transpire Project (for artists).

The Latest: In between shows, Shawn's been working on new material in Nashville.

Regional Fact: Shawn's deep appreciation for coffee makes Seattle the perfect place to live.

Hobbies: Music isn't Shawn's only artistic expression. He is also a budding photographer.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Kerrie Roberts

Kerrie Roberts is a big voice in a little package. She grew up singing in church, where she'd often have to stand on a crate so that people sitting further back than the front row could see where her powerful voice was coming from! Kerrie's dad was a pastor and her mom the choir director for their church. Being front and center in church was bred into her from birth!

Kerrie began writing her first songs in high school, performing one during her own graduation. When the time came for college, Kerrie chose to get her degree in Studio Music and Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami.

“Little kids have dreams. For me, it was ‘I’m going to be a singer.’ And I never grew out of it.”

Connections: She's currently opening up the Love Come To Life Tour with Big Daddy Weave & Mikeschair!

TV: Kerrie's music has been featured on Fox and ABC for various promotions and TV show soundtracks.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Kutless

This Oregon based rock group is in the midst of a second musical career. After selling nearly 2 million records and touring the world as a preeminent Christian rock quintet, Kutless found a new voice producing quality worship records.

Their first worship album was Strong Tower - and not only was it a hit with critics and fans, but it revealed the true nature of Kutless' calling - to bring people closer to Jesus. In any industry there is pressure to repeat success and Kutless approached the matter hesitantly. They didn't want to produce another worship record just because everyone loved the first one. The band knew that worship has to be authentic. With much prayer and council from their pastors, Kutless created It Is Well.

Just a week ago Kutless released their next worship project, Believer.

The Name: Christ took our beating and paid the wages of our sin. Romans 6:23
He took our cuts for us leaving us..."Kutless".

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Casting Crowns

Lead singer Mark Hall says, “Our main purpose, above all else, is to know Him more.” The members of Casting Crowns each serve in student ministry in their local churches around the metro Atlanta area.

After all the accolades, all the awards, all the time on the road and in the studio, why does Casting Crowns continue to do what they do? The answer is simple: It’s their calling – God’s calling on the lives of these seven committed and talented musicians. To pour their lives into the students and families God has placed in their paths. To set discipleship to music. To challenge and strengthen the body of Christ. It’s what brought them together in the first place and what keeps them going …

The new album Come To The Well has a strong theme running throughout each song.  We all try to fill our hearts with things other than Christ.  Parents, friends, spouses, things, jobs - but none of these can satisfy our need for Jesus.   The new single Just Another Birthday focuses on the failure of an earthly father to be there for his daughter - but points out that our Heavenly Father is always present.

Stats:
8.2 million career album sales
3 GRAMMY Award
2 American Music Award
14 Dove Awards
12+ chart-topping radio singles
